On Priesthood in Catholic Church

  • Is Ministerial Priesthood scriptural? (updated on March 14, 2007)
Ministerial priesthood exists only in the Catholic and Orthodox churches.  Protestants and "Bible only" Christians reject it because the New Testament nowhere applies the title priest to presbyters and bishops, i.e. the priesthood mentioned in the New Testament belongs to Christ and all believers, and not to limited number of males.  But they overlook the Old Testament, which prophesies the continuation of Aaronic priesthood among the nations.  This article examines the scriptural background of this priesthood.
